#Cry4Mercy #Pray4ppl

Life Support Prayer Calendar

Dear Prayer Team Member,

This week our prayer focus is on those who are aging. I love this passage of Scripture in Isaiah 46! It brings great comfort as we come to the latter years of our lives on this earth to know that God has promised to carry us, to save us, in this particular time even as surely as he brought us from the wombs of our mothers. Please join me in praying for those who need that assurance and take action as God prompts you to  share God's love and the hope of his promises with them.

Isaiah 46:3-4 (NRSV)

Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
    all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who have been borne by me from your birth,
    carried from the womb;
even to your old age I am he,
    even when you turn gray I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
    I will carry and will save.

1. Repent of the ways we sideline the elderly and infirm, housing them in nursing homes that are substandard, and leaving them without comfort of family and friends to suffer and die alone.

2. Pray for your own heart to be softened and willing to serve and “carry” those who are elderly and infirm. Pray for churches to be known for their loving and sacrificial care of the sick and aging to the glory of God.
