#Pray4ppl Love Truth. Resist the father of lies.

Life Support Prayer Calendar
Dear Prayer Team Member,

PPL has always understood the battle for human life, particularly those in the womb, to be fundamentally a spiritual battle. In this week's scripture, Jesus speaks boldly and plainly to those who reject his word, calling them children of the "father of lies." He names their father the devil a "murderer from the beginning." There really is a cosmic battle for human life and that is why prayer is essential if we are to accomplish our mission to equip champions of human life.
John 8:42-47 (NRSV)

Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now I am here. I did not come on my own, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot accept my word. You are from your father the devil, and you choose to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But Because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is from God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not from God."

August 16-22, 2020

1. Worship God for his holiness and truth. Thank him for the Holy Spirit who gives discernment and guides us into truth. Thank him for his preservation of human life and that he defends us from the devil who has always been a "murderer."
2. Ask God to purify the Body of Christ and to remove false shepherds who listen to the father of lies rather than to the words of God. Ask God to give us shepherds who share God's heart and know his words of truth.
