Presbyterians Protecting Life - #Pray4ppl that God's will be done.

Life Support Prayer Calendar
Dear Prayer Team Member,

I grew up in a church where almost every public prayer ended with the phrase, "Thy will be done." God recently brought to my attention that somewhere along my journey through several churches I not only dropped the "Thee" and "Thou" but I began praying for my will to be done. I have wrestled with God over how shutdowns in response to Covid 19 have impacted the progress of my personal goals and way of life. In His mercy God reminded me that the Spirit knows the will of God and he intercedes for us according to God's will. I am convinced that God is working for our good in this time of social distancing and as our normal activities have been severely limited. In this quieter time, I am hearing Him better and I am praying differently and with more confidence that He hears me and will answer.

In this week's scripture passage, the "royal official" hears Jesus proclaim that his son will live and he believes. Indeed, a miracle of healing is done in that very hour. Let's pray with renewed faith that indeed God's will be done!

John 4:46-54 (NRSV)

Then he came again to Cana in Galilee where he had changed the water into wine. Now there was a royal official whose son lay ill in Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my little boy dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way. As he was going down, his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive. So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, “Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him.” The father realized that this was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he himself believed, along with his whole household. Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.

1. Pray that medical providers will see every individual as valuable and allocate life-saving resources in just ways without regard to age or ability. May they be humble as servants of God and pray in faith for God’s help when medical knowledge is not enough to save the most vulnerable.
2. Ask God to expose the lie that says abortion is “essential health care” and to cause abortion supporters to see the falsity of protecting life by social distancing while taking lives through abortion.
