Our Call to Worship: Psalm 50:1-6

Leader: The mighty one, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising sun to its setting.

People: Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Leader: Our God comes and does not keep silence, before him is a devouring fire, and a mighty tempest all around him.

People: He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:

Leader: “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!”

People: The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge.

Congregational Song: “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”

Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, we confess that we've sinned against you. Often, we forget that, during his life, Jesus displayed both power and a willingness to sacrifice himself for others. As a result, instead of being confident and a clear about the lives we’ve been called to live, we allow ourselves to be come discouraged and confused. Loving Father, have mercy on us and help us remember how your Son came both to help and to challenge us to be his disciples.

Words of Forgiveness

Gloria Patri

Affirmation of Faith: The Apostle's Creed

I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  Amen.

The Prayers of the People: (followed by The Lord's Prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.
